Review of Warriors

The Last Ship: Warriors (2018)
Season 5, Episode 5
3/10
Non-continuous mish-mash of storylines and timelines
23 November 2022
Not entirely sure what Peter Weller was trying to do in directing this episode but it didn't follow any particular storyline yet included several. Skipping and jumping all over the place every few minutes and sometimes seconds in a timeline that was abstract and disjointed, weithout purpose.

Without including any spoilers, it was hard to keep track of events and characters as the scenes jump from one to another without order or structure. It seems like a confusing mess that took the viewer on a journey of no consequence or for any good reason.

I've watched each episode of The Last Ship and this one just made me look at the screen and ask "What the hell? Why? Who? When?" because I was left totally confused and wondering how this fits into the rest of the series' story. It seems like excerpts from previous episodes that were not indluded and/or dropped on the cutting room floor, and this was a filler episode to make up the season numbers. In my opinion it could have been left out of the entire series, or should have been included in the appropriate episodes which related to the respective fragmented storylines involved.

This is my first bad experience of Peter Weller as a director and I will be watching out for future direction efforts from him with great trepidation. To be fair the previous episodes he's directed have not been that bad at all. One wonders why this is so bad. 3/10 for this episode of The Last Ship, and I'm being overly generous at that!
