This is surprisingly impactful and with a stellar cast - icing on the cake. The four leads do this movie a ton of justice. So smoothly interpreted onto the screen is this mystery behind a love letter from 22 years past, and the desire, no, the absolute urgency to unravel the writer's identity...
The story is not original in my opinion, and although this general plot has been explored in many movies, the writer put a whole new spin on it. There were so many directions we were sent in that it was a whirlwind of activity. People coming and going, exploring relationships, trying to solve the clues of the identity of the secret admirer, planning the ultimate Christmas gift surprise of a lifetime, and orchestrating the big reveal...
The romance was only a small part of this story, but it fit into it very nicely, albeit not quite the amount I prefer. But it was expertly engineered to go along with the story in a very subtle, yet obvious way.
I was moved to tears several times, which I credit solely to the skills of the actors, like a symphony, it would not have worked without each particular actor performing each of their respective parts to perfection.
Will have to re-watch this every few years for sure. Ingeniously crafted.
