Too artsy, too little story
6 December 2022
This tries to be an art house film, but along the way, it forgets it's supposed to tell a story. The scenes and backdrops all have this smoky atmosphere that's filled with 1930s paraphernalia, but the editing is so disjointed and disconnected that the focus seems to be on beautiful sets rather than any meaningful narrative to help weave the story together in a coherent manner. Maybe it is meant only for an Indian target audience who might focus on the plaintive love songs and flowery language used in the lyrics. Unfortunately, a global audience has no interest in trying to wade through a lot of fluff to try and find some non-existent, ethereal story!
