So this short film focuses on Abel who is a gamekeeper. I had no idea what a gamekeeper is so i did a google search. ''What does being a gamekeeper mean? Gamekeepers manage countryside areas used for shooting and fishing.'' So while Abel is doing his job he notices that many birds are dead and half eaten. Soon he comes face to face with ''The Thing'' which is the creature that eats the birds. He simply shoots and kills the creature like it was any other animal which makes no sense. You meet a creature of unknown origin and you don't even call the police or the newspapers? He just went home after shooting the thing like nothing weird happened, it doesnt make sense. We also see that Abel has problems with his relationship with his wife, their communication is very bad and they fight over little things.
At some point another creature like the first one goes to his house and kills his wife and after that him. Some people think that this whole film is a metaphor for a relationship that is falling apart. Well that could be the case i guess. We dont really understand why these creatures kill or what they want. This is another of these short films that make you have more questions than answers and i dont like that. Why Abel didnt tell the police about these creatures? Why exactly is Abel's relationship falling apart? Why he didnt tell his wife about the creatures? Also i found the pacing of the film to be bad, the whole thing made me sleepy. There is no real build up or tension, the creatures dont seem to be threatening and the performances are mediocre. Very mediocre short film. My rating is 3/10.
