Warning: Spoilers
A feel good movie without any intrusive preachy teachy message. I liked the music, the action, the characters, the relationship tension between Rooster and Maverick. Good training scenes and combat scenes. I felt there was maybe a bit too much reflection of the original Top Gun movie, but just a little. However, one does not need to see Top Gun 1 to follow this plot, even though relationships and the characterization of Maverick himself do build on the first movie.

Favorite scene - two guys, behind enemy lines, up on the cliff, looking down at the enemy base and deciding what to do next. Funny.

Oddity: With that Drone Happy Commander (Ed Harris) appearing early in the film and with his judgment call, I was expecting the plot to build on contrasting abilities vis-a-vis human fighter pilots and drones. But that went nowhere. I feel this was odd, perhaps even a lost opportunity.
