Classic Confusion
16 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When remaking a classic, the producers need to be clear about their target audience, and the direction they're going. This production was all over the place, trying to be all things to all people. It seemed at times to be a self-indulgent vanity project.

The modern dance numbers were just out of place, and had no connection to the story, and some of the costumes (beast, wolves) though brilliant, didn't work.

On a positive note, the singers were all amazing, and well cast, though I didn't see the point of Belle breaking character to play guitar as HER during the finale.

I appreciated the diversity in casting.

I love Rita Moreno, but have no idea why she was chosen to host, having no connection to the original.
