Unforgettable Images
18 December 2022
Recently seeing a photo of the Adelphi cinema (in Bulwell, Nottingham) - a somewhat run-down Art Deco edifice later to become a bingo hall and sadly demolished to make way for KFC - reminded me of the children's matinees I regularly attended there in the late 1950s. The format was always the same, consisting of a children's feature film, a cliffhanger serial, a couple of cartoons and (if I remember correctly) the Three Stooges. The Secret Cave is the only film I have never forgotten and some of the scenes are indelibly printed on my mind. Hats off to the Children's Film Foundation for producing such a memorable and thought-provoking picture.
