Christmas Special
1 January 2023
I always thought Bill Maynard was a regular as Bert Luscombe in Till Death Do Us Part. He only made two appearances on that television show and did a movie version.

The Christmas Special was Bert's sole appearance on the spin off. It is Christmas down the pub and Alf looks forward to spending Christmas alone and with no dinner.

Mrs Johnson offers to share Christmas dinner with Alf, but Mr Johnson does not want to deny Alf some penance. It could be part of God's plan that Alf suffers over the festive period.

With the Salvation Army collecting funds for the needy. Alf decides he is an old pensioner in need of charity. Maybe the local vicar will prove to be a soft touch.

Again the ranting has been toned down. Alf comes over as a pathetic figure, collecting fag ends to get tobacco for his pile.

Mrs Hollingberry has no time for Alf's conniving. As Alf did not save up for Christmas she refused to share her dinner with him. She will also not accept the hamper that the vicar donated because of Alf's sob story.

Bert might be unhappy that he had to put down his dog. However this old dog proves that he has a trick or two up his sleeve when Alf has a lucky dip to win the Christmas hamper.
