The Bodyguard (1992)

Peak Costner, Peak Houston (musically.)

Former Bodyguard to Ronald Reagan, Frank Farmer, is hired to look after musical superstar Rachel Marron, who's life is in danger.

I have truly never understood why this Oscar nominated movie is so lowly rated, it seems to have been forgotten about, in all but one area, the music.

This film was huge when it first came out, and sure it features one of the greatest soundtracks in history, but it holds up well, it's a romantic thriller, and who doesn't enjoy a hero movie, particularly when it's in the guise of Kevin Costner, from a time where was deservedly, was Hollywood royalty.

I watch it quite often, with a degree of sadness, for one reason, Whitney, when I see what she could have become, she was good, in spite of it being her movie debut, the combination of her and Costner worked to great effect.

I still find it very rewarding, of course it's a little bit corny, a little cheesy, but it still works so well. I will always love you will always be remembered as one of the all time great songs.

Don't judge a book by its cover, give it a go.

8/10.
