The other review here on IMDb says that this is 'arguably the funniest episode'. Well I'm more than happy to argue that it isn't. I didn't enjoy this one, not because I didn't 'get' the cinematic/art references (I'm plenty old enough to recognise them), but simply because the gags are lame.
Kelly must make a movie as part of her acting course and Al feels like he deserves his fifteen minutes of fame. Together, they make a film called SHEOS (presumably Kelly created the titles) which is awarded first prize at a film festival, winning them $10K with which to fund their next cinematic project, 'A Day in the Life of a Shoe Salesman' (featuring hot women in bikinis).
I found the humour in this one puerile -- not low-brow or zany, but as though the script was written by a child (albeit one who has seen 2001: A Space Odyssey and Citizen Kane, is aware of Michelangelo's Creation, and who likes bikini babes). There's nothing witty or clever about the gags (randomly referencing classic movies is not a stroke of genius) and the dialogue sucks (for want of better word).
