Get Lucky (I) (2019)
3/10
Meant to be hilarious, but unconvincing (and annoyingly educational) teen sex-comedy
11 January 2023
It's a teenage comedy, a sort of 2020's German version of American Pie, where a group of teens (correctly mixed in boys, girls, straights and gay's) go on a summer holiday with as foremost goal to get sex, and for some, to loose their virginity in the process. The movie tries to combine typical (I guess) teenage fun with some conspicuous sexual education; the theme of always having to wear condoms is so prominently in the picture that you almost suspect some funding from that side. There's also a free-spirited adult aunt who instructs the boys about sex with the help of a car-load of gigantic props. Funny for a few moments, but here stretched-out way too long.

Apparently the writers considered it appropriate for such a sex-centered comedy to throw in some rather tacky scenes, like the very openings-scene where we see the main character frantically masturbating in a little train-bathroom, or a jerk-off competition on the beach between the boys. Probably that's what kids find hilarious. I personally found the whole thing pretty tiresome, everyone in the movie is constantly cheering and roaring with laughter, with only now and then a little moment of reflection or seriousness. But then again: I'm a dull adult, I definitely am not the person that the makers aimed for.
