The Strange Event at Roman Fall
13 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Helen Rune (Rachel Kempson) is married to the reclusive Stanley Rune, a very private and reclusive writer.

Ben Crowder (Lionel Murton) is a pushy American agent who wants to purchase the screen rights of Rune's work by fair means or foul.

Professor John Hamilton (Philip Friend) is an old friend of Helen who has now fallen in love with her. It seems the feeling is mutual.

Peter Ford (John McLaren) is a reporter who claims to Helen that there are rumours that her husband is now living with a tribe in Pakistan.

Helen Rune calls the police after Stanley Rune falls down Roman Fall, next to their isolated clifftop mansion by the coast. His body is swept away by the sea.

However Crowder claims he witnessed what Helen Rune did and gets her to sign away the screen rights or else he will tell all to the cops.

Colonel March investigates and he has no time for Crowder's methods. He also thinks that Stanley Rune never existed, the real writer of the books was Helen herself.

This was not a convincing story, I did not think much of Helen Kempson's acting. The mother of Vanessa Redgrave. It might just be that she could do little with a poor script.
