Weellll ... they can't ALL be great

I'm a big fan of the series and I often compliment The Virginian's producers for the outstanding talent they brought on as guest stars.

This gets off to a bad start when they treat a 95-mile wagon journey as if it takes a morning (probably 6 to 8 days in the terrain between Medicine Bow and Caspar, Wyoming).

Then, they coincidentally arrive on the day of a world championship wrestling match ... and Judge Garth just happens to be an old friend of the local contender ... who also just happens to be getting married the same day ... and just happens to kill his own promoter in self-defense ... and Steve falls for a local saloon girl and tries to get married ... and both the fight promoter and Trampas are ALSO interested in her ...

The wrestling plot and the courting plot are all mixed up and they frequently leave one hanging for far too long while trying to do something silly with the other one.

I THINK this was meant to be sort of a humorous, whimsical episode? Maybe? If so, they didn't know how to pull it off. And if that wasn't the intent, the episode is even more confusing.

The good side is you get a lot more of Steve than you usually do.
