"...A Kamikaze existence in the beauty of volcanic things..."
21 January 2023
The movie "Fire of Love" is a beautiful documentary about the "threesome" between the Krafft couple, and the volcanoes. Katia and Maurice are a volcanologist couple who have been passionate about volcanoes since childhood and this passion takes them to extremes by studying more than 100 eruptions around the world.

The highlights of this documentary are the footage and photographs taken by the couple themselves and also the editing of the movie, they both manage to convey exactly what director Sara Dosa proposes to show: the interaction, curiosity, and integration between the couple and the volcanoes. The interest in studying volcanoes is so intense that it becomes an obsession, they feel like part of the volcano, example is a quote from Maurice "...If I could eat rocks, I'd stay in the volcanoes and never come down...".

The problem with this documentary is the redundancy to emphasize the harmony of their relationship and their love for volcanoes, the director keeps reminding us every 10 minutes.
