A movie that I regularily confound with Yves Boisset's. ESPION LEVE TOI, because it is also question of Lino Ventura in a character of a man trying to escape from something that he doesn't know what it excatly is. As also in LE SILENCIEUX and even LA SEPTIEME CIBLE. And the ending of this one, one of the most disturbing, gloomy ever for Lino Ventura is more or less exactly the same as in ESPION LEVE TOI. And some points, some elements of this moviealso evoke for me CADAVRES EXQUIS, a story very strange, not entirely explained, downbeat, where Lino Ventura is also exquisite, not only the corpses, as it is said in the title. This Jacques Deray's film is among my favourites for the director, and Ventura too. An unforgettable ending. Painful, depressing, but terrific.
