I'm totally amazed that this was put forward for an Oscar. I'm not totally amazed that it didn't win.
The movie was going along quite nicely. Ok ... it was a bit weird that the new chief was totally mad over this woman literally a couple of days after arriving in town, but I went with it. Then he goes round to the house and proceeds to get along famously with her while her husband is aleep outside the door. Eh, ok. Then the husband wakes up and our hero accidentally suffocates her while trying to keep her quiet? Hang on ... you've completely lost me there. What an utter load - but then it says at the start that the film is based on real events!! Are they just mental in Denmark?!?
The rest of the film didn't really improve that much ... with lies and cover-ups that just seemed ridiculous and unbelieveable.
I also don't really get why the head cop seemed to let him off with what he clearly knew he'd done either. Maybe I was less than 100% invested by that point.
It was good to see Martin from The Bridge!
