The Revengers' Comedies
15 March 2023
Sam Neill is on Tower Bridge trying to commit suicide when he hears a call from Helena Bonham Cater intent on the same course of action. They agree that their misery is largely because of one person in each of their lives and make a pact a la Strangers on a Train to get rid of each other's problems.

Wonderfully silly, very British comedy brought nicely together by a tremendous cast mostly poking fun at the snotty upper classes. The leads are fine, but the film is raised up mainly by the supporting players, notably John Wood, Rupert Graves and first and foremost Liz Smith who is quite hilarious as the old family retainer Winnie and practically walks off with the film. There is a scene where Neill looks across the lawn at the burnt out summerhouse and asks Winnie what happened, she gives him a look and says 'there was a fire sir'. You probably need to be British to enjoy this.
