Lucas Braun is involved in a land dispute with two sketchy men, Weems and Slack. Lucas hires Clay Culhane.
When Clay visits Braun at his home for further information. He recognises the older man staying with him. It is General Fowler a famous general known as Redbeard who is thought to have died in a battle.
The General is not happy that Clay has recognised him. Clay agrees to stay quiet about this matter. Redbeard will still be regarded as dead.
Before long Weems and Slack fall out. Slyly Weems kills Slack and tells the Marshall thar Braun did it.
Now Braun is in jail and Redbeard who saw what happened is the only one who could clear Braun. It means coming back from the dead.
It seems Marshall Scott who is the only one who takes whatever Weems says at face value. A miscarriage of justice never enters his mind.
