Review of The Bounty

Star Trek: Picard: The Bounty (2023)
Season 3, Episode 6

Finally, real Star Trek

Star Trek Picard season 3 has been a revelation.

This feels like Season 8 of The Next Generation.

While we're halfway through the season, this has been a nostalgic and enjoyable ride so far, and I can tell you that many Star Trek fans like myself will definitely be re-watching the entire season.

The difference between Picard S03 and the rest of NuTrek, is that its actually enjoyable. There is a great story arc that keeps us guessing from episode to episode, the writing is good, there is subtle humour in there, and of course, its good seeing the old actors again, most of whom deliver good performances.

To the series creators if you're reading this - if you want to make money, then you need to keep delivering exactly this. Even Strange New Worlds does not feel as good as this.

What Star Trek fans want : 1) Good writing and acting ( you can obviously being in new characters for future shows, but the same quality) 2) The show needs to feel like its set in the future, not with people from the current day in space ( ie. The way they speak ) 3) Don't insult our intelligence by only delivering mindless action

Where Picard Season 3 could improve 1) There's too much camera shake 2) The sets are too dark ( yes I prefer the look and feel of TNG, and most others as well ) 3) We did'nt have too many intellectual episiodes ( perhaps you need a larger season for that )

Give us the above and you will make money.

One last thing , I consider Picard Season 3 to be the first new canon since the end of Enterprise. Non of NuTrek even the movies is canon.

Anyway I hope Star Trek can continue down this path.
