An introduction to The Larkins.

Ada Larkins is delighted to have her son Eddie home after his national service comes to an end, she's keen to throw a big bash, but husband Alf is worried about the expense.

GI husband Jeff, the latest addition to the family introduced us to the family, a family who are clearly instructed and directed by battleaxe matriarch figure, Ada.

It's an amusing first episode, it's not what I'd call rip roaring comedy, it's very much an ITV comedy of the time, but it's definitely a decent start, for one primary reason, Peggy Mount.

It's a getting to know you episode, we meet the family and neighbours, and we learn the dynamic, Peggy Mount and David Kosoff were good value, one or two of the others were maybe a bit raw.

A solid start, it would get funnier as it goes along.

Solid start, 6/10.
