THE YOUNG MAN WITH ENEMIES

We have the CANNON connection here as this was directed by George MacGowan, who directed many episodes for both series. The dynamic Martin Sheen (also a Cannon regular) plays a twentysomething named Danny who someone wants dead. ASAP. There's a fast paced opening scene as Sheen is being chased on his motorcycle on a long winding road by a mysterious car. This looks to have been filmed around Dodger stadium and the LA police academy, which actually is a very remote area and was used by MANNIX for chases. If you have a keen eye, you get used to these locations, also seen on MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, filmed by Paramount. Sheen is a natural here and its fun to see him in his younger days, just before his break through starring role in BADLANDS. He made his film debut in 1967. Also in the cast is the unforgettable Harold Gould, one of the best dressed bad guys on tv (though he spends a lot of time reading in a hospital bed here?). Originally, Gould was a dramatic teacher who decided to go the way of his students and worked steadily, especially on tv. He has talked about this a lot through the years. Well written with a very realistic plane landing scene with Linc. If you watch it carefully, with proper instruction from the radio tower, this is more than likely how an amateur pilot would land a light plane, the plane cruising off the strip in some grass. Most tv shows make the incredible perfect landing. George MacGowan did an excellent job here. Sheen later flew with Cannon! SEASON 4 EPISODE 12 dvd box set.
