Season three, personally, has been a combination of frustration and alienation.

Our merry hero, Ted Lasso, is quite obviously suffering homesickness and depression, and is a far cry from his cheerful self in episode one. Rebecca is anger-filled and obsessed with her ex-husband's effortless charm of the media. Roy Kent is terrified of losing his loved ones, so he chooses to leave first (similar to how he left Chelsea before they left him). Colin needs to be seen. Nothing is right, everything goes wrong. And over and time again, Richmond is berated and beaten.

And then, this episode.

The team is beaten yet again, and they all need a breath of fresh air. Every single character in the show-Ted, the team, Colin, Rebecca and Roy-are broken in different ways, for different reasons. And Amsterdam delivers, hard.

With one beautiful episode, all of the characters are reminded of what it means to have fun. A team of discord and cacophony comes together and enjoys a night of pure fun. Rebecca remembers what it's like to enjoy someone's company. Colin gets to express his "ache" in discretion to a former member of the mass media. Hell, even Leslie and Will share a moment.

But, god damn, Roy and Ted.

Roy and Ted essentially does a complete 180-Roy shares a bonding, loving moment with his son-figure (it does sound weird backwards) and Ted spends all night thinking of how to best utilize the team. It was wonderful how this episode essentially showed us that Ted doesn't need mushrooms, but a reminder of home to keep going, and Roy doesn't need training, but create a new experience with his protege. With one taste of those deep-fried onion rings on an average American platter inside a nostalgic diner, Ted remembers what he said in the very first episode: he doesn't want them to be the best, but the best versions of themselves. With Jamie of all people, someone who was the last to open up to Jamie's reentering of the club (besides Nate, I guess) was able to create some new, wonderful memories that will undoubtedly be cherished by both of them for years to come.

After the last episode, I expected to see a triumphant victory of Richmond after another series of losses. Ted Lasso proved me wrong in the most spectacular fashion. I hope to see the new and refreshed Richmond in the following episodes!

Absolutely Gazellig.
