I imagine if I could understood Spanish then much of the amusing dialogue would have seemed more funny. The Church and the priest smoking during mass and the nuns taking heroin, cocaine and even acid are amusing but go on all the time and then the LSD hallucinations of Jesus. But I'm sure that there are many taboo routines making it all rather funny. I didn't really grasp about the nun and her tiger although I suppose I could understand about the nun and her sensational novels and even writing. I did love the wonderful colours and the whole look of the place and these would reappear in Almodovar's later films. I really liked the singing and the whole idea of Yolanda being a nightclub singer and her boyfriend having died at the beginning. I also liked the nuns and their names such as Sister Rat and Sister Sewer.
