While Avatar 2 expands upon the interesting world of Pandora, the film fails to deliver a coherent and engaging story. With too many characters and subplots to manage, the film often resorts to contrived plot devices and lazy writing to advance its narrative, despite its 3 hours runtime. And there are many purely illogical moments.
While the visuals and CGI are breathtaking, the weak writing undermines the potential of this sequel. Nonetheless, Avatar 2 manages to offer enough entertainment value and to further develop the franchise, even though the "Wow" effect of the original Avatar is gone.
