Haven't watched a movie since like 2022 and wasn't really planning on watching a superhero movie anytime soon either but the holidays and festivals are the worst time of the year for me and thought something like Shazam wouldn't be so bad.
And I was right, it was delightful and fun. Its a shame how poorly this was advertised and how it colossally bombed at the box office, because this is legit a more enjoyable movie than almost the entirety of MCU phase-4. Not perfect obviously, but I honestly couldn't care less about the technical side of things and neither should you really. It was fun, hearty, feel good and a really good popcorn flick.
Basically its like the MCU movies but more fun, quirky, hearty, relatable, enjoyable and a better time all around. Just as good as the first one but in a different way, prioritizes the familial aspect more than boring expositions or plot points. Which is a plus for me because honestly we've all "been there done that" at this point and personally can't even sit through expositions or who is who and why are they doing what.
