Jason alone can save us!

Warning: Spoilers
So says a sheep who used to be a man, turned into Mary's little lamb all grown up on an island of beautiful witches. It's pretty good effects to see one of the witches suddenly age into an old hag, plead for the opportunity to be beautiful again if only for a moment, then transform back. The story focuses both on what has been going on in Thessaly since Jason left to find the golden fleece and his desperation to fulfill his mission and return home. Nadia Sanders is the evil queen Gaia, beautiful by day, crone by Nighy, holding her own sister hostage and cursing Jason (Roland Carey) while Alberto Farnese usurps the throne back home.

Collectors of peplum films will be disturbed by a faded pan and scan print with the usual poor dubbing, but for a one time viewer, it's satisfactory enough to enjoy the massive sets, hulking bodies barely covered and the adventures that Jason encounters. The acting of the onscreen actors is not something that can be judged as a good majority of those speaking for them do so dreadfully. A deformed giant ape like monster (with one eye) is pretty impressive, and the sword fights well staged. I've seen much worse sword and sandal films with better prints so this one does well in my book.
