It seemed like a normal day at the international special station -ISS- , all day long is perfect . However, one day, on a routine system check , the pair of astronauts : Mar (Coral Balas) and Petrov (Iván Muelas) who are in orbit on a space station are stunned when some attacker zombies show up and subsequently crossing a meteor full of zombies adding so much danger to their regular day . And eventually discovering that something sinister is aimed at Earth planet .
A very good short with colorful imagery , brilliant fantasy , science fiction and a little bit of humor . Zombies are just immensely popular , there is no doubt about it , specially in the 21st century, these creatures have gained such a massive appeal that it is difficult not to come across them all the time on the cinema or internet . The plot of this splendid Short results to be plain and simple : Mar and Petrov, two experienced astronauts, try to repair a spacecraft failure , but something never seen hits them violently, from now on they just have to attempt to survive . As an illogical novelty here zombies appear in outer space , and that's why we've seen zombies underwater , zombies on planes or boats , but perhaps it's the first time we've seen them attacking in space , here the ISS works correctly until one of the systems failed , then appearing creepy zombies , skeleton-alike . There are also a couple of things here and there that feel completely absurd when it comes to the storyline , but you end up letting them go because the exact premise of the Short is not one attempting to be realistic , but still , those points take you out of the tale every time they pass in front of you .
This enjoyable Short was well directed , as directors José Luis Farias and Alfonso Fulgencio have found a way to make zombies feel fresh and imaginative again by taking them into space . Zombie Meteor feels like a competent blend between Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity and the usual zombie genre . For a long time, the industry has been dominated by Walt Disney productions , John Lassiter or Pixar do in the realm of 3D animation , while the 2D realm has been dominated for decades by the anime industry or Ghibli studios with its main representative , director Hayao Miyazaki , and this Zombie Meteor provides a new and innovative style thanks to these two humble craftsmen : José Luis Farias and Alfonso Fulgencio . This was great and I'll watch anything these creative forces make . You won me over, even if I'm still sick of zombies . Keep your mind open and allow the living dead inside. Rating : 7.5/10 . Better than average , well worth watching . Essential and indispensable seeing for Sci-Fi and Fantasy enthusiasts.
