Review of Bloody Daddy

Bloody Daddy (2023)
7/10
Great timepass but loads of flaws !

It's really unfair to compare this with John Wick in first place and those who do so have no knowledge. Just because the action sequences seem to give a feel of John Wick doesn't mean they are trying to copy them. Bloody daddy itself is a remake of Nuit Blanche which i am sure less than 1% Indians have watched and the Kamal Hassan version was a remake of it too which too i am sure many haven't watched (now please don't say oh i have watched it how can I say such a thing , you are not the only person living in India ).

I can't help but start with a major flaw in the film, the locations. The hotel shown clearly belongs to UAE but is passed off as belonging to Gurugram like seriously?? I mean what stopped the makers from using a 5 star hotel in Delhi for the purpose? Have we run out of fantastic luxury hotels in India that makers are forced to use foreign hotels and pass them off as belonging to India and think we are fools?

Now coming to what i liked. First, the mood and lighting in the film is pretty well done. A red screen behind as Shahid Kapoor enters the hotel with a drug filled bag is pretty well done. The entire film actually managed to hold my attention till the end. The pace is fast and there are no boring moments.

Next , the action sequences. I especially loved the kitchen sequence where Shahid and Rajeev clashed with kitchen utensils . Even the last sequence where Shahid uses the burner was good but was slightly bogged down by Badshah's terrible song playing on the background (that sounded Survive ! Survive ! Rather than Its a vibe! It's a vibe ).

There are some humorous moments, out of which some worked, some didn't. The Nepali cook one made me grin .

Ronit Roy and Sanjay Kapoor have some decent moments which i enjoyed.

However, as i said the film is loaded with flaws, two of which i already highlighted . The villians have been given some really poor dialogues when it came to humor . The other two villians other than Ronit and Sanjay where really poor. People just randomly entering opposite gender washrooms is the most illogical thing i ever seen. Music album is a hit and miss. Diana penty felt the weakest in doing the role of the cop. Also, many things were predictable from a long distance like who was the boss of Rajeev etc.

Rajeev khandelwal tbh his voice sounds so similar to Saif Ali Khan but i think he did a decent job.

Real Talk by GD47 has to be the most energetic and the best song of this film. Yes it's the same song that played in the trailer . One of the best song in this genre in Bollywood this year and something I was missing since Get Ready to Fight from baaghi .

Overall, a great timepass film . Stop this habit of comparing everything, if you love watching cinema, just sit back , relax and enjoy the film , you might even overlook the flaws.
