Series 9 Episode 12
Arthur and Ray are heading to Sydney, Australia. When they finally land they are met by Bill McCabe. Arthur is suffering heavily from jet lag. Bil drops them at their hotel, then goes to see a solicitor, Susan Hamilton, to offer Arthur legal representation during his inheritance claim.
Unbeknownst to Arthur and Ray a businessman, Reid, has ordered a criminal, Rod Thompson, to pretend to be a decendant of Joshua Daley, to claim the inheritance.
Arthur is under the impression the inheritance is his, so is surprised to see several Daley's attend a meeting with Geoffrey Evans. Later, Arthur yells at Evans, who informs Arthur he hired investigators to search for anyone with a connection to Joshua Daley.
Rod Thompson tells Reid he doesn't want to go through with the plan as there are too many people involved and he hasn't had chance to research. Reid tells him he has no choice as he has too many debts, so from now on he is Joshua Daley's illegitimate son. Rod mentions Arthur getting angry at the meeting. Reid says they will check him out.
At lunch, Ray is getting more concerned with the amount of money Arthur is spending. Arthur assures Ray he is the genuine heir to the inheritance, so there is no need to worry. Bill arrives with Susan. Ray is immediately interested in Susan.
Susan drives Arthur and Ray back to her office. They are followed by two men working for Reid. At her office she discusses Joshua Daley's estate, Paradise Springs, and whether he had had other assets.
Later, the two men break into Susan's office looking for Arthur's documents. They report to Reid that they can't find them. Reid theorises Arthur must be carrying them, so he instructs his men to find Arthur and get his documents.
Arthur and Ray tell the hotel receptionist they are going to see a family mansion. They set off driving and soon end up in the outback, with nothing around them. Arthur is navigating and Ray insists they are lost. They stop to get out and read the map. A kangaroo goes past, startling Arthur, who panics, jumps in the car, turns the key, which snaps off in the ignition, stranding them in the outback.
Bill McCabe arrives as the hotel. The receptionist tells him Arthur and Ray have gone out to see a family mansion. Bill quickly leaves.
Arthur and Ray set up cover next to their car to protect them from the sun. A large spider crawls towards them and they freeze in panic. Bill eventually finds them and steps on the spider, before driving them to Paradise Springs.
Paradise Springs turns out to be a run down house in the middle of nowhere with rusted out car shells nearby. Arthur is unimpressed. Bill tells them Joshua owned thousands of acres that is worth a fortune.
Back at the hotel, Arthur is blaming the receptionist for them getting lost when Susan arrives to tell them of the break in. Arthur shows her the documents. She tells him to put them in a safe. Arthur says he doesn't scare easily. Ray tells Arthur he is going out with Susan, and Bill leaves, so Arthur is left alone.
Bill meets with Evans and looks at the files of the claimants. He recognises Rod Thompson, and calls a friend in the police to find his address and check his vehicle registration.
The following day, whilst leaving the hotel, Arthur and Ray notice they are being followed. Ray takes Arthur's documents, tells Arthur to hide, indicates the documents to the two men before running. They chase him.
Bill visits Rod at home. Rod realises he is busted. Bill calls his friend in the police and informs him about Rod and Reid.
Arthur and Ray meet Susan outside Bill's office. The two men arrive and separate. Arthur and Susan run. One gives chase. With Bill's help Ray subdues the other man. Arthur and Susan are chased to a canal. Susan manages to push the man into the water.
Arthur meets with Evans and several other men to discover who will claim the inheritance. It is ultimately discovered Joshua had a son, and his descendant is the sole heir. Arthur is furious. Arthur, Ray, Susan and Bill say their goodbyes. Bill tells them to buy a plane ticket when they want to return to the UK.
At the hotel Ray realises Arthur didn't check the terms of their trip to Australia. They have no money, but need to buy their own return tickets, plus pay off their enormous hotel bill thanks to Arthur's carefree spending. Ray says they will have to run from the hotel. They sneak out the fire exit.
