Not the PA Amish I know
21 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Totally ridiculous movie. When an Amish decides not to return from Rumspringer, their family is required to shun him or her. There is no contact whatsoever. It's as if they never existed. I come from a valley community in Pennsylvania where we had many Amish. I knew them well. I was a member of our volunteer fire and ambulance company where we had many Amish patients, delivered their babies, stood beside us and helped with house fires, shopped in their stores and were friends with them. The Amish family we were very close with used our freezer because the mother was a baker for the Lancaster markets. The husband raised terriers, and took him and his dogs to the vet if he had a problem delivery. So this movie doesn't even come close to Amish life.
