I love this series, I also loved the original from the seventies.
I was a bit disappointed with the change of Brad and Job without any explanation. Especially Job, I would have liked a bit more of his back story with his sister. Instead we get double act of man stupid and woman cleaver, something we get a lot on both film and TV.
I'm also fed up with people complaining it's in English, it's made for an English speaking audience, why would they speak Dutch and have us following sub-titles? Over the years we've had at least three different Maigret's, none of them speaking French, no one complained then. Nor did any one complain that Barry Foster didn't speak Dutch in the original. I think these people couldn't find much else to complain about so pick on the language, pathetic.
I don't know why there has to be a gay/lesbian character in every production these day, in the next episode we get two!! They don't detract from the story but neither does it add anything, just there to tick a box
Also, can we have a male top cop in a series, any cop series?
I like the way the old theme is woven into the new one.
Hope they keep on making them, especially as Endeavour has gone and probably Vera soon, and Midsomer Murders is well past it's sell by date.
Final word, Marc Warren is great in everything he does.
