Giving His Best When Transferred to Another World
11 July 2023
Summary: This anime is based on a light novel series of the same name, which translates to "Jobless Reincarnation: Giving His Best When Transferred to Another World". It tells the story of a 34-year-old NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) who dies after saving some people from a truck accident. He is reincarnated as Rudeus Greyrat, a baby boy in a fantasy world. There, he retains his memories and knowledge from his previous life, and decides to live his new life without regrets. He learns magic from a tutor named Roxy Migurdia, swordsmanship from his father Paul Greyrat, and befriends a girl named Sylphiette. He also meets the seven gods who rule over the world and grant him their blessings, giving him extraordinary potential in magic. As he grows up, he faces various challenges and adventures, while also developing relationships with different women.

Opinion: I think this anime is one of the best isekai anime I have ever seen. It has a well-written story that spans multiple arcs and genres, such as comedy, drama, action, romance, and fantasy. The animation quality is superb, with fluid movements and detailed backgrounds. The character designs are also appealing and distinctive. The voice acting is excellent, with each actor fitting their role perfectly. The music is also fitting and catchy, especially the opening and ending themes.

The main strength of this anime is its character development. Rudeus is not a typical isekai protagonist who is overpowered and flawless. He has his own flaws and weaknesses, such as his perverted tendencies, his trauma from his previous life, and his fear of failure. He also makes mistakes and faces consequences for them. However, he also learns from his experiences and tries to improve himself. He is not afraid to admit his faults and apologize for them. He is also loyal to his friends and family, and willing to help others in need. He is a realistic and relatable character who grows throughout the story.

The other characters are also well-developed and interesting. They have their own personalities, backgrounds, motivations, and goals. They are not just there to support Rudeus or be part of his harem. They have their own arcs and conflicts that affect the plot and Rudeus' growth. Some of them are Roxy, a shy but talented mage who becomes Rudeus' mentor and friend; Sylphiette, a kind-hearted girl who can manipulate wind magic and becomes Rudeus' first love; Eris Boreas Greyrat, a hot-headed but brave girl who becomes Rudeus' student and later lover; Ruijerd Supardia, a noble but misunderstood warrior of the Superd race who becomes Rudeus' ally; Ghislaine Dedoldia, a powerful but gentle swordswoman who becomes Rudeus' bodyguard; Norn Greyrat and Aisha Greyrat, Rudeus' half-sisters who have different personalities and relationships with him; Zenith Greyrat and Lilia Greyrat, Rudeus' mother and maid who both love him dearly; Paul Greyrat, Rudeus' father who is a skilled but irresponsible swordsman; Elinalise Dragonroad, a beautiful but eccentric mage who becomes Rudeus' friend; Talhand, Geese Nukadia, Pax Shirone, Man-God, etc.

The anime also explores various themes such as reincarnation, destiny, free will, morality, family, friendship, love, loyalty, betrayal, revenge, forgiveness, courage, fear, etc. It shows how Rudeus' actions affect the world around him and how the world affects him back. It also shows how different cultures and races interact with each other in this fantasy world. It has a rich lore and world-building that makes the story immersive and engaging.

Overall, I would rate this anime 8 out of 10. It is an amazing anime that deserves more recognition and praise. It is not just another generic or clichéd isekai anime that follows the same formula or tropes. It is an original and creative anime that has its own identity and charm. It is an anime that can make you laugh, cry, cheer, or feel any other emotion. It is an anime that can make you think about life and its meaning. It is an anime that can make you enjoy watching it from start to finish.
