A Bland Reboot that doesn't really bring much to the table

I guess the director wanted to tell some sort of story to give motivation to why the kids did the killing, but it wasn't necessary. Remember how much more unnerving Michael Myers was when he had no motivation or reason for killing? And then how all that terror was thrown out the window when Rob Zombie came along and was like "actually it was because Michael had abusive redneck parents." The same mistake happens here. In the original, the kids wreak havoc solely because of the influence of He Who Walks Behind the Rows. They kill for no reason, other than their victims are adults. Here, they are given motivation, thereby eliminating any real dread.

Also, I've never seen a group of characters with a startling lack of agency since Midsommer. The difference between this and Midsommer was that Midsommer actually felt like it had something to say about toxic relationships and coping mechanisms. The only thing I could glean from Children of the Corn was "GMOs bad" maybe?

I gave one star extra for some of the kills, and another because the little girl antagonist looked like she was having fun, but this one is easily skippable.
