Review of Radioactive

Radioactive (2019)
4/10
Unfocused and shallow.
18 July 2023
It takes about 20 minutes to realize that the movie is not just flying through the life and times of Marie Curie in order to get to a point, a development, most notably a discovery, or a conflict, but it goes on, with quick cuts and superficial insight to gloss over every aspect of her life. It's a pity that such an extraordinaire life should be treated with so little care. No great achievement of development seems to be a focus here, and to make matters worse, the movie also jumps to times she never would have known to offer the audience a thread of connection to the implementation of radioactive therapy in medicine, the atomic bomb and Chernobyl. These cuts have no reason or purpose. It becomes after some time tiresome and even annoying how a movie can be so unfocused and so superficial with one of the most prolific scientific careers whose influence is immeasurable.
