I started by absolutely loving this spin off. I watched the first couple of episodes and rated it a 9. I thought the casting of Charlotte was inspired and was just top-notch.
The problem started for me as the series progressed. It felt like it was dragging..you know when you've got a great idea for a series but not quite enough material? A classic motif of not enough material is rehashing a previous episode by retelling it from another perspective. I was wondering when the story was going to progress, and they did it! It was like a 90s Star Trek episode.
Overall it felt very disjointed going from 'cool and heartless' current Charlotte to 'passionate, loving' young charlotte. With no real bridge to explain the difference, other than someone having to actually verbalise that shes obsessed with him. Which is literally the laziest deux machina of story telling.
Its enjoyable to watch but doesnt capture the magic of the first series.
