Entertaining popcorn flick with some great gore for fans that

Deliver Us from Evil (2020) is a Korean film that I recently watched on Prime. The storyline follows an assassin who kills a Japanese mobster than goes into hiding in Thailand after hearing the mobster's brother will be hunting him down for revenge. Meanwhile an ex-girlfriend contacts the assassin about her missing little girl...then mysteriously turns up dead. As the assassin digs into the little girl's disappearance, he uncovers a dark web of black market organ trade and brutal conditions that's not the place for a little girl.

This movie is written and directed by Won-Chan Hong (The Chaser) and stars Hwang Jung-Min (The Wailing), Jung-Jae Lee (Hunt), Park Jung-min (Time to Hunt), Moon Choi (Anarchist from Colony) and Hakuryû (The Good the Bad the Weird).

This is more of an action thriller with horror elements than a pure horror movie. The storyline feels like a Danny Boyle or John Wick movie with more gore and intensity. The gore in this is excellent as are the stab scenes, torture sequences, fight choreography and all of the action scenes. The storyline had more depth and compelling characters than I anticipated. The third world black market aspects were sad, sadistic and a world to be glad you'll never encounter..hopefully. The full circle elements of the plot are worthwhile and the ending is rewarding, even if many of the action scenes are over the top and unbelievable.

Overall, this is an entertaining popcorn flick with some great gore for fans that. I would score this a 6.5-7/10 and strongly recommend it.
