As I watched this movie, I tried to figure out what about it bothered people to the point that it didn't have a higher user rating. I was enjoying the first two acts, and thought it built up the tension fairly well. The main character, Graham, didn't interest me much, but I was fairly entertained by the pompous ghost hunter, Steve. The story follows a man who posts videos about his life, and when the movie begins, we learn that things had begun to happen in his apartment that seemed like they could be paranormal hauntings. In the second act, we learn that he faked these events, and possibly even planned much of it out ahead of time with the investigator Steve. Then, in the final part of the film, it looks like the hauntings begin for real. At the end, the signs seem to point to the fact that he is faking this final portion of hauntings too, which I think is the letdown that may have disappointed anyone who hadn't given up on the story already. The movie ends with Graham attempting to hang himself, although the noose comes off of the wall and he falls to the floor. We are told that in the live stream, he laid there until his camera battery gave out, and when police came to check on him, he wasn't there and has not been seen since. This felt like a poor ending to me. I think the filmmakers could have had something better if they had reconsidered a few choices.
