Bad Moon (1996)
6/10
Some good, some bad, but enough worthwhile horror elements to make it worth watching once

Bad Moon (1996) is a movie that was recently available on Shudder. The storyline follows a man who is bit when he is attacked in the jungle by a big, strong animal. He returns home to the US and tries to live in a camper away from people. The brother's family is helping him and has a dog that knows something isn't right with him. As people start missing around town, and the dog keeps going more and more crazy when the bitten man is around, it becomes apparent who the #1 suspect of the missing people...

This movie is directed by Eric Red (Body Parts) and stars Mariel Hemingway (Manhattan), Michael Paré (Virgin Suicide), Mason Gamble (Dennis the Menace), Ken Pogue (The 6th Day) and Johanna Marlowe (Frequency).

The opening for this movie got me excited to watch the storyline unfold. Fantastic opening sequence for sure. The cast and overall acting is solid, especially by the dog, Thor. He's probably the best part of the movie. The werewolf reminded me of the werewolf in An American Werewolf in London, but something was off about an its face. The kill and transformation scenes were just okay and the final kill by Thor was entertaining but could have been so much better. I will say seeing Dennis the Menace vs a Werewolf kept my attention.

Overall, there was some good, some bad, and enough worthwhile horror elements to make it worth watching once. I would score this a 5.5-6/10.
