Justice League: War (2014 Video)
7/10
Justice League: War offers great animation and action, but lacks in the writing, still worthy of your time

With a cast of great actors doing the voice for our favorite superheroes, Jay Oliva who knows how to direct an animated superhero movie with great action and story, and finally some top notch animation. On top of that, we have a decent script based on "Justice League: Origin" by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, which was the start of New 52 and this film is the second film in the DC Animated Movie Universe.

The film depicts an invasion of Earth by the alien and demon "New God", Darkseid, and the subsequent formation of the titular superhero team to counter it. The cast includes: Alan Tudyk as Kal-El / Clark Kent / Superman, Jason O'Mara as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Michelle Monaghan as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman, Justin Kirk as Hal Jordan / Green Lantern, Christopher Gorham as Barry Allen / The Flash, Shemar Moore as Victor Stone / Cyborg, Sean Astin Zach Callison as Billy Batson / Shazam and Steve Blum as Uxas / Darkseid.

Justice League: War has everything you want for an origin story for the Justice League, a compelling and dangerous antagonist and then a team of superheroes we love. I loved this film when I first saw it, but honestly, if you compare it to other DC animated movies you'll most likely be slightly disappointed. I still really like it though, the entertainment value is there and consistent throughout the film. They could have done a better job with the story, the critics are right there. It feels like they only care about the next big action sequence, they're good but still, we needed more character development. So if you're looking for a well thought out and deep superhero film, you should look elsewhere, but it's a fun animated film from DC. Cyborg is a weak character in this film with bad design and Aquaman is absent, I also dislike the characterization of Wonder Woman. Three criticisms.
