The girl from different time-zones
26 August 2023
I know this series is called "The Girl from Plainville". But it might as well have been called "The Girl from different time zones" i couldn't make heads or tails of where the endless time frames were coming from, and for which there were many. And that was the problem for me, too many fairy tale flashback scenes to deal with, star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet meets Heavenly creatures, it was all just a bit tedious.

Michelle is shown through most of the series as a lost and confused teenager with a stalky disposition, that in the end, it was obvious that the show was coming from a feminist perspective. No back stories on the real details of the case, no family build up, just la la land and fairy tale Cinderella vibes. The only saving grace was Chloë Sevigny who played Conrad's mother, even though her time on screen was limited, she was the only realistic believable character. Conrad is portrayed as dull and boring, not depressed and suicidal. So much wrong with this show, and as many said, could have been done in 4 episodes max.
