So Jennifer Lawrence is amazing as always, she knows how to sell herself to the parents, how to get angry, and how to seduce! Andrew Barth Feldman also shines and pulls off the shy boy very well. The chemistry feels natural and they both land the physical comedy part really well.
A few moments in the movie are really done well like the scene where Percy is playing the piano at a date, brilliant! And also when Maddie faces some teenagers at a party and can't stand their nonsense!
Overall the movie works, you have your fun time, you have your emotional moments, well balanced between comedy and heartwarming scenes. I'm actually surprised to see there is depth in characters and the movie is going somewhere!
And there is great casting for supporting roles, You even get to see Zahn McClarnon and Hasan Minhaj in this.
The summer visuals are nice, song choices are great! I actually think we need more movies like this! And on top of that more Jennifer Lawrence comedies!
It's a feel-good popcorn movie for the summer that will give you enough chuckles!
