Don Knotts comedy

Smut peddler Osborn Tremaine (Edmond O'Brien) is ordered in court to stop publishing. Abner Audubon Peacock (Don Knotts) is the publisher of his family's bird-watcher magazine, Peacock's Magazine, with money trouble. Osborn becomes his new partner and slyly sends him away to search for an elusive bird in Brazil. Back home, Osborn turns the Peacock into a girlie magazine. Abner becomes embroiled in a free speech court case.

Don Knotts is perfect for the role. He is so brilliantly sexy and non-threateningly asexual. He is the king of comedy faces. The movie's rating did become a problem for the family friendly actor. I would change one thing. I would cut out Rose Ellen. He's better as the bachelor who can't get a date and later can't escape from the ladies. Rose Ellen is barely a character with limited screen time. He should free her like a caged bird. I also question the Lisa LaMonica character. Her story needs a few changes. I can probably also do without the physical violence. It's not funny enough to be slapstick. It does get to a strange and yet compelling fork in the road for Abner. It's a funny comedic turn. I really would like some modification with LaMonica. She's more compelling to pair with Abner. She's a more compelling character in general than Rose Ellen.
