This is a hero

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is why I watch superhero movies and shows. This hero, Supergirl, has super values. It's true that the story gets a little sappy in that regard. Kara is so trusting, which is one of the foundation stones of the show, at least early seasons.

The episode starts with a lot of public criticism of Supergirl. Now, Kara has lost her powers and has a broken arm to boot. National City is in a crisis and people need Supergirl everywhere. We have one scene where Kara watches as a person dies that Supergirl could have saved. This rips her up. There are tragedies going on all around her and all she can do is watch helplessly. There is a conversation about it with Jimmy.

Then she sees someone go into a store to loot it with a gun. Kara dons her Supergirl outfit and walks into the store powerless. She knows the gunman can kill her. But others are at risk. She talks him down. This is a true hero. That was obviously the point of the story, but way too many of our recent superhero franchises have obscured the integrity that a true superhero should have. Some still have it to a point. The 4 movies with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman are good examples.
