Interrupted whilst watching Makayla at the ice rink, Ruzek goes to a scrime scene at the behest of an old uniform colleague and finds a family dead by apparent murder suicide...until he takes a closer look and realises they met their end due to someone cooking meth next door. CCTV footage shows Samantha Beck, from a few episodes back, in the vicinity. And, so, here we go!
I guess with Sean O'Neill out of the picture, it was time to return to the sketchy Beck clan, and the writers deliver a good episode that is clearly setting up an arc that may well last through the end of the season.
Ruzek goes undercover after a very clever ruse, and ingratiates himself with Samantha and her young son, whilst also striking up a rapport with her father, Richard, the head honcho of the operation. Who, aside from being a drug dealer, is preparing for "the end". Fun.
This storyline has real promise.
