It's a typical "underdog" sports movie with all the appropriate bells and whistles... think "Hoosiers" only not as good. What kinda troubles me is that while this is "based on a true story" and the characters are real, and real names are used, the movie embellishes the actual events needlessly. I won't ruin the story for you, but the climax that the movie builds to... the finale of the Odessa-Permian football season... isn't close to factually accurate. It makes me wonder why they chose to change the story so dramatically... did they not believe the truth made a good film? It would have. So then, I wonder what else they took liberties with, and why not just make a fictional film in the first place?
Anyway, it's a decent sports movie if you like football and small town drama. Just don't google anything after you watch it.
