Review of Ayinla

Ayinla (2021)
8/10
Now we know who Ayinla was!

Ayinla was a beautiful experience to discover Apala music from the comforts of our home.

We were immersed in the culture and got a good understanding of who Ayinla was; job well done.

DELICIOUS

-So...most of us know Lateef Adedimeji for being a joker in all his movies, but in this film, oh my goodness, he was unrecognizable😅 He purely captured the artistic spirit of Ayinla

-No criticism on the old-fashioned art direction; it was a careful execution

-The screenplay really drew us into Ayinla's world: we got to know about his likes/dislikes, food, songwriting process, interests, ambitions, etc.

The inclusion of different parties such as the reporters, the promoting agency, and his fans/well-wishers diversified the narrative

-Ayinla cautioned us to be sober and vigilant in life, make informed decisions, as well as know the people we allow within our inner circle

BLAND

-The audio, the audio, the audio was not refined; it gave off a speaker sound effect that was quite disrupting at times

-The constant fading transition was a bit much from scene to scene.

Ayinla, being a musical, could have tremendously benefited from artistic editing and cinematography in order to maintain the flow.
