Went out with a whimper, and a literal bang
11 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The series finale carried on with the Gallagher doing what they've been doing all season: wandering aimlessly around Chicago.

The only scenes of note were Frank's declining health and death. Flashbacks to the first episode, a soliloquy mirroring the first lines spoken in the series, and a funny credit scene just to tie it all up.

Other than that... nothing else happened. The Gallagher family is more or less still figuring their lives out and what the next step is. So, pretty much nothing has changed there. But also, there are clues as to what might happen next for the family, and none of it is particularly interesting or exciting. If they were to have another season or a reboot, there's nothing left of this family to care about. Maybe Lip has a second child, maybe Debbie is in Texas, maybe Liam is still having an existential crisis about his Blackness. The point is... the audience stopped caring a long time ago.

I would like to see a spin-off of Carl's journey as a cop. From a kid who seemed a sure thing to become a serial killer from the early episodes to a cop, well, that's one heck of a character arc. Continue his journey into becoming an actual mature adult.

I digress. The show should have ended with season 10. The series ended with a whimper, and a literal bang as Frank's alcohol-soaked body faces the crematory furnace.

Goodbye, Shameless.
