This show has undoubtedly felt like a breath of fresh air for this franchise. As a major TWD fan, I was beyond disappointed in how awful the show become in the last couple seasons- particularly the shockingly terrible 11th season. It was crammed full of boring, useless, and downright insufferable characters- and the lack of plot progression, stakes, or a cohesive overarching narrative was insulting. From the heavy focus on Yumiko (the most irritating and volatile character) and her ridiculous lawyer arc, to that horrendous Eugene detective episode that absolutely nobody asked for, Season 11 had us all scratching our heads as to how TWD lost its signature touch and why it seemed to be marketed towards 11 year olds.

However, the Daryl Dixon show has proven that we still have competent writers and the ability to write real characters again. It feels cinematic, there's a purpose, and the acting and characterization feels genuine for the most part. This last episode really cemented this for me, as I found myself actually getting invested in TWD content for the first time in forever...

And the final scene? Perfection. Carol is by far the best character to ever come out of TWD, and her scene, although short, was incredible and got me even more excited for season 2. The show is only going to get better from here with her addition, and I know she has some great things in store (and maybe if we're lucky, she can tell Laurent to "look at the flowers"....)
