Stylistic and ever great Mauritz Stiller drama

Warning: Spoilers
Mauritz Stiller is definitely one of the best directors of all time, one of the pioneers of cinema, and a very important person when discussing Swedish film history.

This film of his, which is very subtly narrated and expertly paced as ever, is one of his more well known and beloved features, and for good reason.

The actors all do an incredible job, in true silent film fashion, truly an art form lost in time, and done to exception here. Great names, all of them.

The script is, of course, stellar, based on a book and adapted to its own thing very nicely.

The cinematography, cutting and editing, ever important in silent filmmaking, and filmmaking overall - and Stiller definitely mastered his own style gracefully. Very beautifully put together.

Overall, a stellar romantic tragedy by a master. Very much recommended for any lover of film, if you by odds have not seen it already!
