A dispute over coffee

Warning: Spoilers
The final episode of 'The Squirrels'.

Rex and Susan are looking forward to a fortnight's holiday in Majorca. She plans on wearing a revealing outfit on the beach. He disapproves. At the office, tempers flare when the tea lady is sacked and replaced by a drinks dispenser which does not work properly and keeps issuing oxtail soup instead of coffee. Talk of strikes is in the air ( again )

Brian Finch was given the honour of penning the final episode. John Cater, who plays 'Vernon', was at this time to be found in BBC-1's hit costume drama 'The Duchess Of Duke Street' ( he played 'Starr' the doorman ). Leslie Schofield, who plays union official 'Lolly' Briggs', was a year away from replacing Tim Preece as 'Tom' in 'The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin'.

Interesting to see the late Peter Blake as a postman. In 1991, he played Alan David's role in 'Fiddlers Three', the remake of the Squirrels.

Funniest moment - Burke registering his objection to the sacking of the tea lady by singing 'The Red Flag' and tipping his cup of oxtail soup out of the window. A moment or two later, Fletcher enters, wearing a soup-splattered suit.
